Animal Waystation, a subsidiary of Refugee Resettlement Fund (rrf.ngo), is run virtually singlehandedly by Kathleen O'Connor, our founder. Kathleen has a PhD in Anthropology from Harvard and various other degrees, but her main hobby for the past 25 years has been to care for lost and abandoned animals. TNR is a special interest of hers to care for feral cats and attempt to control their population inn a humane and healthy way.
Kathleen decided in 2016, after fostering at her personal expense a dozen or so animals that walked into her world, to incorporate as a 501(c)3. She was able to add Animal Waystation to her existing non-profit, Refugee Resettlement Fund.
Animal Waystation assists lost or abandoned animals that show up in Kathleen's yard needing help. Most appear to be former pets that were abandoned for unknown reasons, likely behavioral. Animal Waystation provides food, veterinary care, shelter and the possibility of adoption.
And of course, lots of love.
Kathleen's main question is:
where are they supposed to go?
